Each one of these works is literally and figuratively a captured or isolated representation of an event of engagement into flow state. It’s me sitting down, entering in flow state, improvising a shape within this box, and at the end there is a figure staring back at me as a physical depiction of that flow state that was just achieved. You could say this about any piece of art, regardless of subject or genre, but these are that by design, almost a literal depiction of the act of flow, or at least that’s what they’re meant to be. These forms have infinite potential, not just for me but for anyone who chooses to create one. The goal is to depict flow, and induce it with the same image, at the same time. These can very in development, as they could be a quick 10 minute sketch, or a multi-session large scale painting. They can be planned or improvised.
My goal is to keep creating these elements throughout my life, hundreds, thousands of elements - letting the forms evolve as they may. I’m currently working on the first volume of “The Elements of Flow” Art Book. Stay tuned!
